THE 8TH ANNUAL QUEENSLAND MODEL HOBBIES EXPO

We were a bit worried about this show; this was the first one that we had to pay to
exhibit at. We also had to pay an entrance fee to get in each day. Other train clubs told
us that we were stupid in doing this show, but we decided to give it a go and decide for
ourselves about it. We took the small U drive layout to this show which consisted of the
two return loops with Alvins mountain module and the corner module between them. This
allowed the public to run trains on the layout and for us to run Digital on Alvin's
mountain section.
We had a great time, we were the only model train club there and we put on a great
display. This show exhibits a variety of hobbies. Model cars, trucks, planes and the War
gamers were there battling it out between themselves.

There were people dressed up in costumes; some were solders who were dressed up in many
eras. There were also the Star Trekkers running around in their costumes, it was a laugh
to see a World War 1 soldier standing next to a soldier from the future.
We will be back next year if they ask us. It was very different to what we were used
to. They even had entertainment outside with a game of "see who can avoid the
swooping plover". The happy couple of plovers decided to nest in the car park and
were not happy with people walking by, we saw a couple of people who didn’t win the
game, bandaids were there prizes for losing.
